Wanderer - Travels Through the Hidden Lands

You move through a strange landscape, filled with things familiar and unknown, mysterious and mundane.  You cannot say what brought you to this place, nor how or even whether you might be able to find a way home again.  You have only the clothes on your back, a notebook and the few other items you carried with you when you came here.

What will the story of your journey be?

You find yourself in the Hidden Lands, a place beyond, or perhaps it is rather behind, the world we know.  It is another plane of existence, but one to which many things can travel, if only by accident.  A world in its own right, the Hidden Lands sits somehow adjacent to our own and is filled with places, things and even people that have become lost.

Wanderer is a solo journalling game where you are a traveller who has been inexplicably transported to the curious and eclectic landscape of The Hidden Lands.  As you make your way through this unusual landscape, you record your wandering in a journal.  You draw cards to receive prompts for each journal entry, establishing what you saw, or felt, or found that day.

To play, all you need is the game zine, a standard deck of playing cards (including jokers), a six-sided die (d6), a coin (though the coin is optional) and something to write on.

Wanderer – Travels through the Hidden Lands was created and written by Matt Beames, with artwork by Jenna Beames and layouts by Hannah Torrance.  Wanderer was part of ZineQuest 2024 on Kickstarter, and this edition of the game was made possible by 120 backers.
